Overview

Jessica’s talk focuses on the value of play and its importance, both biologically and historically. She’ll discuss how play is at the heart of any creative process requiring innovation and how to program yourself to enter this state of mind. Play was crucial to Jessica’s own development and she shares how much it’s influenced her career path.

Every great game has a strict set of rules and Jessica believes the same goes for design. In Jessica’s process, it’s limitations that help creativity thrive. She believes it is actually more difficult to do something truly great when the possibilities are endless. Through her recent work at Sagmeister & Walsh, Jessica Walsh will show how she creates her own rules that helps guide her to the concept – and when it’s a good time to break those rules.
