Stuart founded Random International in 2005 to create artworks and installations that explore behaviour, reaction and intuition in relation to natural phenomena and the human form. The studio responds to recent developments in cognitive science and new media by creating works that encourage an active relationship between people and their surrounding environments, making the viewers’ participation fundamental. Stuart directs the artistic implementation of technology into Random’s work, collaborating with fellow founders, Flo Ortkrass and Hannes Koch on the studio’s creative direction. His background in electronics, software and engineering is fused with an ongoing interest in people — their actions and reactions — in the creation of Random’s work.
