Overview
Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority (LVCVA) unveiled a groundbreaking program, Vegas: Alter Your Reality (VAYR), at the world’s premier art event – Miami Art Week. VAYR is a creative interpretation of the Vegas experience, from the minds of five distinguished artists. Each artistic interpretation was brought to life through virtual reality technology.
Tasked with bringing fine art to life, the team chose 3D animation because of the visual freedom it allows. Each artist has their own distinct aesthetic, and the technology allowed each individual storyboard to come to life. Combining state-of-the-art 3D software and old-fashioned storytelling, the team created a VR fine art gallery. In addition, Las Vegas partnered with Samsung to use their mobile VR technology at the Miami Art Week installation. The content is now accessible via the Vegas VR app.
Objective
To discuss the trials and tribulations of creating 5 distinctive fine art VR experiences for a major tourism brand with some of the world’s best multi-medium artists.
