Overview
It’s easy to dismiss a lame term like the “Internet of Things” – it’s a catchphrase only a PR firm could love. But we shouldn’t dismiss it outright. It’s here today and will be more pervasive as we are on track to having 75,000,000,000+ connected devices on the planet by 2020. This practical session will not spend time on the marketing aspects of IoT, but on how you can start building your own fun IoT projects, from smart-ass lightbulbs or your own weather station, to being able to analyze, parse and dashboard data from 1,000,000 sensors at the same time. This session is for all the geeks out there and especially those who want to see how Skynet takes over humanity.
Objective
Learn how to be a maker of “things” and deal with the challenges of those “things.”
Target Audience
Makers who like to make and creative technologists.
Things audience members will learn
- What is this “Internet of Things” really about?
- How you can actually do something with it even you’re not a hardcore geek.
- How to waste a lot of money on fancy lightbulbs.
- How can I get my boss to pay for all of this under the guise of ROI and Business Justification?
