Overview
The artistry lies not only in the output but in the creative process. A new medium begins with a simple vision and can grow into an entity never before imaginable. Mateo Mounier’s work epitomizes the artistic process as the development of his tools is as ubiquitous as the work he creates. Mateo will explore his evolution as a painter and how it led to the foundation of an entirely new media tool – Digital Skin.
Mateo will discuss his primitive, 2002 explorations and performances with a Wacom, projector and Adobe Photoshop, when mapping didn’t exist as an art form. From idea to integration, he will cover the challenges of bringing an innovative new art form to life, including a lack of existing tools and technology, and the elaborate journey to realizing his vision of live mapping- painting with emitted particles, digital brush strokes and animated content.
He will describe the inherent value in communicating clearly and openly with technicians and creative teams in order to translate his vision, while staying forever at the forefront of emerging technologies and boundless opportunity. Mateo will shed light on his nonlinear, avant garde approach to dreaming up an idea and then making it a reality.
