Derrick de Kerckhove is Director of the McLuhan Program in Culture and Technology and professor in the Department of French at the University of Toronto. He was an associate of the Centre for Culture and Technology from 1972 to 1980 and worked with Marshall McLuhan for over ten years as translator, assistant and co-author. Besides his scientific interests in communication, Derek is promoting a new field of artistic endeavour, which brings together art, engineering and emerging communication technologies.
Mr. de Kerckhove’s books include Brainframes: Technology, Mind and Business, which addresses the differences between the effects of television, computers and hypermedia on corporate culture, business practices and economic markets. He also wrote the best-seller, The Skin of Culture, a collection of essays on the new electronic reality, Connected Intelligence: The Arrival of the Web Society and his latest book, McLuhan for Managers: New Tools for New Thinking, which is an illuminating and unprecedented book for managers that combines business acumen and innovative thinking.
