Creative director, film director and designer Alan Bibby joined MPC Creative in November of 2015. Best known for his work in advertising and music videos, he’s also active in the areas of short films and live experiential installations.

A native of New Zealand, Alan divided his time between NZ and living with his extended family in apartheid-era South Africa – experiences that helped shape his outlook on social values and the power of visuals in telling stories.

Travelling through Europe and Asia, he arrived in New York at the height of the dot-com boom. With an eclectic educational background that ranged from art and poetry to filmmaking, photography, typography and design, he migrated from the music industry to tech start-ups before eventually finding his way to advertising agencies.

Drawn to the more entrepreneurial vibe of an independent studio, he joined design company Stardust where as a creative director he worked for many of the ad industry’s top agencies on complex, integrated visual effects and motion graphics assignments. Later he moved to the New York office of the highly-regarded design and production studio LOGAN, where as director and creative director he ran the office with current MPC creative executive producer Dan Sormani.

Alan’s advertising clients include Lexus, Castrol, Google, Budweiser and Mercedes-Benz, and his music video work includes the VMA-nominated “Princess of China” collaboration between Rihanna and Coldplay, which he co-directed with Adria Petty. His short films have been praised for their visual style and have screened at international festivals and museums around the world, including MoMA, PS1, the Tate Modern and Palais de Tokyo. He’s also directed concept-driven fashion films for such labels as Passarella Death Squad, Marc Jacobs, Electric Feather and SANS.
