Overview

Today’s devices severely limit our ability to interact naturally with digital content, despite the fact that we have become increasingly dependent on our smart phones and computers for almost every aspect of our lives. Our devices lack the contextual awareness to offer relevant information when and where we need it, and their screen-based interfaces divert our attention in mobile and social situations. Finally, they are designed for a single user, and not well suited to accommodate collaborative activities. All of these problems motivate the Fluid Interfaces research group to design new interfaces that integrate digital content in people’s physical environments in more fluid and seamless ways. Our aim is to make it easier and more intuitive to make use of digital information and services in daily life.
