Design systems have long been discussed as holistic ways to approach structure, consistency, and scalability of UI. They’re all this and so much more: building blocks of hybrid design and code, communication tools, and expressions of brand to name a few. But what happens when the system needs to flex and scale with the changing needs of its users?
In this talk, Shona will speak to examples from the application of Google’s Material Design system, describing how the system is built to stand on its own. She’ll go over the tools used to scale design systems, and the power (and pitfalls) of deploying those systems at scale.
