Overview
Marcelo is an artist, designer and researcher at the MIT Media Lab. There his practice operates on two levels. The first level is conceptual. He develops pieces where computation and information can be physically experienced outside of screens and keyboards. You can think of it as a form of “visceral visualization”. The second level is Technical. He creates this work by developing materials and composites from fabric, paper, electronics, plastics and more that can change shape and colour and act as sensors and actuators that can then be integrated into interactive sculptural objects. Please join Marcelo as he discusses both the research and design process of his projects
