Overview
This presentation is aimed at both Technical and Creative audiences and is intended to show that there is a wealth of possibilities in using colors in digital applications. The use of color is often limited to the web palette of 216 colors. Even though it is obsolete, few dare to venture outside of it and exploit the tremendous selection of colors. I propose to show that, while Color harmony is complex, it is mathematical in form, and that software applications can be developed to use color more creatively and imaginatively without extensive study of color theory. In particular I will discuss how to develop software that will use algorithms to do the following: – creating customized color palettes using color theory – using colors to create the illusion of depth and third dimensionality – using darkness and brightness to create the illusion of time passing – using colors to create a mood, a temperature, a narrative
