Presentation

Overview

In the beginning of March, my co-founder at Occipital, Jeff Powers, came up with an idea for a barcode scanning application on the iPhone. After realizing that nobody else had done it yet, we spent the next 4 months creating and launching RedLaser. During those 4 months, we learned a lot about the limitations of the iPhone SDK, the App Store review process, getting publicity for our app, optimizing the hell out of our code to make it fast, and dealing with an unforgiving user base.

This presentation is the story of how we went from idea to a launched application, and the lessons learned the hard way that we wish we’d known at the start.

Audience:
Anyone interested in launching an iPhone application through the App Store.

Attain:
An understanding of the components necessary for a successful iPhone Application including product, marketing/PR, customer relations, and getting your app through Steve Jobs’s iron fist.
