Video is a key aspect of the explosion of popularity of Flash.Although the immensely popular YouTube, and similar video-sharing networks, might be the first thing that comes to mind with Flash video, that is only one of a huge variety of experiences that are possible with video in Flash. And now, with the release of the latest Flash player (MovieStar, 9.0.115) and its ability to play QuickTime directly in Flash, and support for hardware accelerated playback of HD video, the boundaries continue to expand.

This class will teach the fundamental concepts and code involved in working with video in Flash. Taught entirely in ActionScript 3, students will learn how to build a wide variety of video experiences, with the native components and from scratch. Students will receive lots of commented source files, a small collection of public domain videos for use in development, and a free 30 day Flash video streaming account fromĀ Influxis.com
