From his first job working at a cinema on a Canadian base in Germany, J. Joly has spent two decades working in media. During his undergraduate at Queen’s, J. founded a recording group that toured with acts such as The Tragically Hip, Wilco, and Primus. After graduation he directed award-winning shorts, worked for “Just for Laughs festival” and at every level of production on films, TV in Toronto.  Relocating to Vancouver J. founded OverInteractive Media Inc., receiving private investment from Bootup Labs and local angels to develop dimeRocker, a cloud-based platform designed to accelerate the creation of branded social games, gamification, and social TV strategies. Some clients include Disney/ABC, Weinstein Company, CBC, V-Tele and PwC. Recently, “Heartland Ranch” a CBC project won a Social TV award for Best Social Drama. Conference panels include: Banff World Media Festival, Vancouver International Film Festival, Merging + Media, nextMedia, and Mpower Mobile. J. was appointed to the Board of the Vancouver International Film Festival, and as a National Advisor for the Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television. He is also an advisor for Merging + Media and X-Summit. In May, he founded CineCoup, a new disruptive film model that was announced as part of Growlab and will launch this fall.
