Carl is the Mill+’s design creative director.
Whilst heading up Mill+’s design team, Carl has directed the Google Chrome ‘Jamal Edwards’ and ‘Julie Deane’ spots, with ‘Jamal Edwards’ being the second most-viewed ad on YouTube in 2012 and winner of a silver Clio Award in the Television/Cinema category.
Some of his recent highlights include Suisse ‘Bam’, MTV’s ‘Rhythm Jerk’, the Young Directors Awards 2012 trailer film and the opening titles to the Ciclope Festival 2011. He has also just completed the highly anticipated ‘We Are Shining’ music video which was featured in Vimeo’s Staff Picks.
Alongside Carl’s CD and directorial duties, he is also a designer, illustrator and musician furiously trying to maintain a balance between the commercial dark arts and his personal work.
Carl has over 16 years experience in the industry and was an art director at Ogilvy & Mather, a founding member of Produce Interactive, owner and founder of Harmless and Domesticated Design Consultancy, and design director at The Ebeling group as well as group head at Iris Integrated Agency.
He has won numerous advertising, design and direction awards, has mentored at both the Miami Ad School and Barcelona’s Atalier school and has served as judge for the D&AD, and more recently spoken at Offf Barcelona, Istanbul and Mexico city.
