Overview

Enjoy a bit of design futurism and speculate on how the next interfaces for our Digital Lifestyles will take shape.

We now live two lives separated by only a touchscreen: our real and our digital lives. We sense the value of this next pattern of computing. Many are going all in. Some are even wearing watches again. But increasingly the interface to our Digital Lifestyle is frustrating. What is next? Do we evolve ourselves? Immerse completely? Run the other way, quickly? Or do we evolve the interface? How deeply will the digital lifestyle entrench.

Meanwhile, designers and technologists are all becoming product designers. Together we find ourselves working at this intersection of digital and physical. It used to be if you wanted to hide from digital you worked on dishwashers or cars or thermostats or jewelry or clothing. Since The Other Singularity there seems to be no hiding place left (well, maybe websites). So let’s go all in and take a look forward. Engage in some design futurism. Spin up some demos and have a good energetic conversation about what interfaces are to come, the next patterns of computing, and how we can design for this new form of living digitally.

Target Audience

Designers. Those who carry or contribute to gadgetry. Makers and technologists. Fans of science fiction.

Take Away

You should leave with great lateral thoughts on the future of product and interface design, maybe a few laughs, and some resonant thoughts about where this journey is taking us.
