Overview
Flash developers have a long tradition of coaxing some amazing, sometimes unholy things out of their tool of choice. However there are still limitations to what is possible with Flash, and in this session we’ll be exploring several development tools that can serve as a supplement or alternative to it. We’ll be looking at Processing, openframeworks, Python, Maya and the OpenGL shading language. We’ll also break down what the trade-offs are with each, and prove that if you can master development with Flash, you can work with any of these. The primary emphasis will be on algorithmic imagery, including using techniques from high-end visual effects and physics-based animation.
