Overview
With the release of the iPhone SDK, developers are faced with Objective-C, XCode, Interface Builder and other tools that are likely very unfamiliar if they’ve been building Flash based applications. Flash developers are unique in the programming world, because they have a unique understand of programming for a visual interface, and can leverage that experience to become comfortable in building applications for the iPhone.
This presentation will introduce the iPhone SDK to developers in terms they already understand – by comparing the elements of the iPhone SDK to elements used in Flash. We’ll do side-by-side comparison of Objective-C to ActionScript. We’ll compare a few functional examples of tasks that you know how to do in ActionScript, and show you how to do them in Objective-C: parsing XML, loading images, saving preferences, animating graphics.
Seasoned developers will recognize that building for a new platform should be no more than a syntax shift, and an adjustment in the problem solving approach used to build applications. Watch this presentation and help accelerate your shift to the iPhone SDK.
