Overview
As Flash Player 11 opens the gate to the world of GPU acceleration, 3D gaming on the Flash Platform is about to explode. And so is the market for Flash game tooling, with big players like Unity and smaller ones like Flare3D developing tools for the Flash Platform.
As has long been the case for traditional console and PC game development, most of these technologies cost a lot in license fees. But there are great open-source options, with infinite ratio of value to cost (do the math ;)). This session aims to show that tremendous results can be reached with these open technologies, and quick!
In the session Richard will build a small 3D platform game in 30 minutes, with very little preparation and using only open-source tools and frameworks like Blender, Bullet physics, AWD and the Away3D platform. Expect great visuals, sweaty live-coding, geekyness and more or less laughable puns.
