Overview
Data science, machine learning and analytics are changing the world – and the world of design won’t be immune to this transformation. Big data and tools such as machine learning can provide the types of insights that user researchers and user experience designers have always dreamed of.
This data-driven approach allows user experience designers to better target areas for further investigation and uncover what drives these behaviours, ultimately designing better products and services.
Objective
By uncovering patterns, hidden deep in massive data sets, we can leverage highly contextual quantitative research to inform exactly where to focus high-touch qualitative user research. Working hand-in-hand, designers and data scientists can collaborate to better understand the behaviours, needs and desires of large populations. This talk will explore some of the methodologies for this type of collaboration and select case studies.
Target Audience
Designers and strategists, particularly those working with analytics or other types of large data sets.
