Keith Peters will be speaking at RIA Unleashed Boston 2011 about making your own tools to make other stuff, including how to make spritesheets for games, to view the clipboard contents, for embedding assets in a .swf and more. Keith will also be participating in the RIAs by Day, Games by Night panel. Keith took the time to answer a few of our questions so FITC fans and followers could get to know him a little better leading up to the event. Meet Keith Peters...
What are you passionate about?
Learning things and improving my skills. I get bored once I'm good at something. So I'm always looking for something new to challenge myself.
What personal projects are you working on?
I’m mostly just messing about with some JavaScript Canvas stuff. It's fun to learn that, but in a lot of ways it's just redoing stuff I've already done in Flash, so eventually I'll need to find something I can do new stuff with.
What tools are you working with now?
In the last few months I've worked on Flash, Flex, iOS, Android, Windows Phone, and HTML/JS projects, so pretty much everything.
Where do you get your news?
I kind of rely on Twitter these days to see what's exciting. I've gotten a bit bored with more established tech "journalism" because it's getting even worse than traditional journalism in terms of bias towards one thing or another, sensationalist statements designed only to induce traffic, and complete lack of research in so many articles.
What do you do to disconnect and unwind?
I started running 2 years ago and now I run 5-6 days a week. I start training for my second half marathon in October and my first marathon in February. It's nice to get away from everything and just move quickly under your own power.
