Maggie Koerth-Baker is the science editor at BoingBoing.net, one of the most widely-read blogs in the United States. Trained in “old media” journalism, she has spent almost her entire career working under a new paradigm–going from assistant editor at mental_floss magazine to making a living as a freelancer, blogger, and author. She is the author of Before the Lights Go Out, a book about electric infrastructure and the future of energy in the United States, and her work at BoingBoing was featured in The Best Science Writing Online 2012. Time Magazine named her one of the best Twitterers of 2012, largely because of the live-tweeting she has done from scientific conferences, amazing museum exhibits, and a cross-country train trip. Maggie is a member of the board of the Council for the Advancement of Science Writing.
