Overview
Note that this workshop is offered on the Pre-Festival Workshop Day (Aug 16) and therefore is only available to those who have ‘The Works’ or the ‘Pre-Festival Workshop’ ticket.
In this workshop, Scott Janousek – world renowned Flash Mobile and Device expert – will introduce you to one of the first mobile and device platforms slated to have Flash 10.1: the Android Platform.
You will learn both the basics to native tools development (i.e. Java) approach using the Android SDK, as well as how Flash development fits into the overall platform picture using both in-browser Flash Player 10.1 and out-of-browser Adobe AIR for developing applications using ActionScript 3.0.
Many best practices, real world experiences, as well as tips and tricks will also be shared throughout this workshop when working within Flash CS5, Adobe Device Central, and other mobile tooling. In addition, the importance of content optimization, performance tuning, as well as other device considerations such as screen size, input methods, and more will be covered.
Hands-on examples provided in this workshop will teach you how to effectively utilize newer and powerful ActionScript 3.0 Device APIs provided in Flash 10.1 such as Geolocation, Accelerometer, Multi-touch and Screen Orientation, and much more.
Skill Level:
ActionScript 3.0 knowledge and experience is assumed. No Android, Java, or mobile/device development experience is required (but doesn’t hurt).
