Presentation

Overview

Perfectionism tricks us into believing there’s a “right” way to create. But the best work often comes from unexpected moments- from accidents, play, and trust in the process. This talk will take us through breaking free of believing in the fear of failure. The fear that leads us to overthinking, creative paralysis and lost opportunities for innovation in our creative worlds. By diving into play as a gateway to breakthroughs, we will explore the truth of every great artistic movement or work, it starts with breaking rules, taking risks and having fun in experimentation.

By using imperfection and play as a creative superpower, how can we break free from the mundane, how can we connect more with authentic storytelling and playful mark making? Instead of fixing “mistakes” how can we use them as a playmate and respond to them? The work that often moves people often comes from the moments we almost threw away. Let’s take those creative blocks as an invitation to try something different. Creativity isn’t about control, it’s about trust. It is about showing up, playing and letting the process surprise you. The mess is where the magic happens.
