Overview

We’ve been experiencing a climate emergency for decades, and finally the media, the politicians, and various marketing engines are using climate stuff as talking points. Sometimes this is intermixed with action. On one hand we have an opportunity to clean our shit up: reusable packaging, shipping in bulk, to stop using companies that contribute to the fossil fuel economy, but on the other hand we are being green-washed.

Recycling plastic to make gorgeous designer tables can use more Watts than we started with, the electronics industry is a disaster filled with conflict mining, what do we do about battery technology that kills children and adults but yet moves electric vehicles forward. Energy is energy and Watts are Watts, how do we as a society start to think critically about this and stop accepting that every company that claims “sustainability” actually is?

We need a way to easily obtain product information with an understanding of the cradle (mining, transporting materials) to the grave (transporting, dumping). This is truly the circular economy and yet *we* aren’t given enough information to make good decisions.

Sophi believes that we are all learning and the future is not bleak, but we have a ton of work to do.
