Greg Goodfried

Greg Goodfried is a Co-Creator and Executive Producer of the Internet video series lonelygirl15. In this capacity, Goodfried handles the business development, day-to-day operations, and marketing of the production. He is also involved in the creative process, contributing to the storyline, characters, and interactive elements. He is a co-creator and serves as Executive Producer of the spin-off series, KateModern, which follows the life of a University student in London utilizing many of the interactive and mysterious story elements that have made the original web show an International phenomenon. KateModern debuted in the summer of 2007 on leading social networking site, Bebo. The series takes the model of interactive ongoing drama to new heights with the integration of major brands such as Gillette, Pantene, Microsoft’s Windows Live, Disney and Orange signing on at launch to be positioned within the storyline.

Trained as an entertainment attorney, Goodfried has a background in new media and copyright law. Along with Miles Beckett and Mesh Flinders, he created lonelygirl15 in the summer of 2006 and since then, the videos have received a combined 50 million views. lonelygirl15 is consistently a most watched, most subscribed to and most discussed video series on YouTube. Along with producing partner Miles Beckett, Goodfried has formed the digital studio, LG15 Studios with the purpose of creating original content and marketing campaigns for digital platforms (internet/mobile/IPTV).

Front-page news was created when it was “revealed” by the creators that lonelygirl15 was a scripted series and since then, the videos have steadily increased in popularity. lonelygirl15 was named VH1’s Big Web Hit and the #1 web celeb by Forbes Magazine. A prototype for how a serialized story can be told on the internet, it is the fan’s ability to interact with and affect the characters through text comments, video responses and private messages that sets the series apart. In August 2007, the Season One finale– an event where 12 episodes were uploaded over 12 hours — drew over one million views as an exclusive on MySpaceTV.

Greg is married to Amanda Goodfried, Producer and head of the Interactive Department for lonelygirl15. He has a B.A. in Political Science from the University of California at Berkeley where he was a member of the Men’s Varsity Golf Team. He received a J.D. from the University of California at Los Angeles and went on to practice law at Mitchell Silberberg & Knupp, LLP. As an expert on the convergence of entertainment and technology and online video, Goodfried has recently been a panelist at ARGFest 2007 in San Francisco, has spoken on “User Generated Content, Social Networking, and Hollywood” for the iHollywood Forum Digital Media Summit, has appeared on the Film/Interactive Panel at SXSW, been a featured speaker at the Banff World Television Festival and NextMedia Conference in Banff, Canada and is a co-host with Miles Beckett of Mixed Media, a live streaming web show at nowlive.com.
