As one of the most recognized names in design, Dale provides the vision for all aspects of Schematic’s creative and user experience development. His thirty years of broadcast and interactive design experience makes him a driving force and integral part of Schematic’s push to converge enhanced and interactive television, broadband networks, emerging wireless media, and the Internet.

A leader in interactive television development, Dale designed the interface for Time Warner’s Full Service Network in Orlando and pioneered new spatial navigation interfaces and enhanced programming for Sony, CSI, Survivor Africa, Life360, and Turner Classic Movies.

Dale has designed more than 15 network broadcast packages, including directing and designing the on-air graphics for three Winter Olympics broadcasts on CBS, each earning him an Emmy award. Dale earned a fourth Emmy on behalf of Schematic in 2005 for his contribution to the Cablevision iO digital cable service.

Prior to Schematic, Dale started H Design, a company that created network-branding packages for Fox Network, Fox Sports Net, WebMD Television, and National Geographic Channels International. Before founding H Design, Dale was an independent creative director working with television industry giant Harry Marks, creating branding systems for ABC, NBC and other leading motion design firms in Hollywood.

Dale has served on the Broadcast Designers Association and the Interactive Television Alliance board of directors. He regularly speaks at industry events, including Promax/BDA, SIGGRAPH, CHI, DICE and MILIA. He has been active with the AFI Enhanced TV Workshop for many years, and has taught design, information architecture, and animation at UCLA, the California Institute of the Arts, and Art Center College of Design in Pasadena. Dale is also a fellow at Ball State University, working closely with the school’s user experience testing labs.
