Overview

Unity is taking the web and mobile market by storm. Along with Flash 3D engines such as Papervision and Away3D it continues the shift in general web design, where 3D is used not only for games but for any kind of interactive experience.

Unity is a surprisingly versatile tool. It’s powerful 3d rendering engine and an easy-to-use physics system are complemented by a range of interesting features like image processing, video and sound integration, loading dynamic content and a GUI widget collection to manage user input.

By bringing all these possibilities together we have a rich toolset to build any kind of interactive project, be it an artistic installation, data visualization, multi-touch app or even augmented reality. If we add the fact that currently Unity content can be exported to the web, iPhone/iPad and soon Android, we get a universal tool for our times.

During the session we’re going to explore the Unity IDE and examine it’s most important features from an interactive development perspective. We will also look at some awesome examples that will inspire you to think about Unity for your next project!

Audience: Designers & developers thinking about expanding their skills into Unity and 3D in general.

Attain: A solid dose of 3D love! And for the practical ones, an overview of Unity workflow and API.
