Presentation

Overview

Concept. Design. Development. Each phase of a project has its own challenges and each obstacle requires various ways of problem solving to create elegant solutions. A handful of recent Firstborn projects (some still in development) will be used to illustrate our internal problem-solving process from initial ideas to design execution and technical development. Multiple design directions will be shown and the conceptual thinking that went into each will be discussed. Client presentations will also be talked about (how to sell a design when you must present numerous directions). And finally, the development phase – taking designs and transforming them with code. Backend logic / admin tool design and Flash front-end implementation will be discussed. Various techniques used in the projects will be presented – bitmap caching techniques for optimization, algorithms for scripted motion, amf php instead of web services, broadcaster systems, dynamic PDF generation from Flash using Turbine, to name a few.

Who this presentation is for:
This is for people who are interested in creating exciting work for real clients. Designers, programmers, creative thinkers and managers alike will each take away something different.

What attendees will walk away with:
An insight into how we approach projects at Firstborn from beginning to end. More importantly, how to work through problems you will encounter at various levels and create solutions so you aren’t solving the same problems more than once.
