Milad earned his BASc and MASc degrees from the University of Toronto at the department of mechanical engineering and institute of biomaterials and biomedical engineering (IBBME). His research interests span various areas such as computational fluid dynamics (CFD), finite element analysis (FEA), bio-signal processing, physiological control systems, biomechanics and biomaterial development. During his tenure as a research engineer at the Toronto Rehabilitation Institute (TRI), he collaborated with physicians, physio-therapists and fellow researchers studying neuro-muscular and skeletal issues in the spinal cord injury (SCI) and stroke populations. He subsequently applied engineering principles for the design, development and testing of technologies for quality of life improvements for these individuals.

Overseeing the R&D efforts at Myant, Milad’s vision is to continue this path and make accessible many technologies which have been proven in the realms of academia and research but have yet to make the breakthrough into everyday usage. He is currently collaborating with various universities, hospitals and rehabilitation centers on introducing textile based solutions, while studying their feasibility of use and efficacy of purpose. With the belief that the future of healthcare is in further enabling and involving those in need, by giving more access and control, the push for continuous monitoring / therapy through textiles is even more important in the digital age.
