Overview

Note: This all day workshop will run from 10-5pm on Saturday April 11, and is available to WORKS and WORKSHOP ticket holders.

Quantified Self is not just an obsessive hobby, it is a great gateway drug to understanding data. In this workshop, Marius looks at ways to track and visualize the patterns in our online and offline lives. He’ll survey standard methods for tracking and accessing data, using a range of apps, data export tools and public APIs for popular web services.

Using Processing to create custom code-driven visualizations, focusing on a selection of typical usage cases such as messaging activity, geolocation etc., participants will also take away a collection of data demos and sample code for further experimentation.

OBJECTIVE

Get hands-on with data, life tracking and basic data visualization in processing.

TARGET AUDIENCE

Creative coders, developers, and designers curious about data-driven work.

ASSUMED AUDIENCE KNOWLEDGE

Ability to follow Processing/Java code examples, basic data literacy.
