Notes

Overview

What happens when you take user interfaces from the 1980’s and re-imagine them using Raspberry Pi, Arduino, Oculus Rift, and Unreal Engine? Witness how old ideas from the past are new again with today’s technology.

  • Project Flux Capacitor – Landfill-destined desktop computer transformed into a time machine.
  • Project Northern Lights – Arcade joystick lit with dynamic artwork and sound.
  • Project Virtual Pinball – An experiment recreating a Pinball machine to scale in virtual reality but uses real world physical controls.

Objective

Audience members will walk away with a technical understanding how to add custom physical tactile interaction to their own apps, games, and VR experiences.

Target Audience

Individuals who want to straddle the line between software and hardware

Five Things Audience Members Will Learn

  1. Physical interfaces
  2. Electronics
  3. Virtual reality
  4. 3D modeling
  5. Unreal engine
