Overview

With over a million G1s sold and 20 new Android phones expected on the market in 2009 worldwide, Android is looking to be a leading platform for mobile development. This session will first cover the basics of the Android platform, from the Dalvik VM to the application lifecycle, and what makes Android unique among the current batch of mobile platforms.

After getting up to speed, a rapid development session on building a Twitter client from the ground up in 20 minutes will illustrate the Android development process.

Audience:
This session is geared at mobile developers of all levels; some experience with Java will help with understanding the development session, but no prior Android experience is necessary.

Attain:
An understanding of the Android platform and application model and an understanding of how to jump into writing your own Android apps.
